Role Description:
The Associate Attorney is a full-time, hybrid role based in Bloomfield Hills, MI, with some flexibility for work from home. This role involves drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts related to talent, music, production, social media, influencers, and other content-related agreements. The individual will provide legal analysis and advice on labor and employment considerations, third-party rights, and risk mitigation for advertising and entertainment projects. Day-to-day tasks include conducting legal and factual research, advising internal and external stakeholders, coordinating with clients and partners, and helping ensure that content is properly cleared for public use. The role also requires maintaining organized documentation, managing contract workflows, and supporting continuous improvement of JRBA's contract and clearance processes.
Qualifications:
Strong foundation in Law, with the ability to interpret and apply legal principles in advertising, entertainment, and media contexts. Experience or coursework in Labor and Employment Law, particularly as it relates to talent, production crews, and influencer agreements. Demonstrated ability to provide clear, practical Legal Advice to business stakeholders and creative teams. Proficient in legal and factual Research, including reviewing statutes, regulations, case law, and industry standards. Skilled in Negotiation of contracts and business terms, balancing client objectives with legal and commercial risk. Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school; admission to at least one U.S. state bar strongly preferred. Prior experience in advertising, entertainment, media, or a related business affairs environment is beneficial. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and contract drafting ability. Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a hybrid setting. High ethical standards, sound judgment, and a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Talent and Influencers
- Assisting to prepare union and non-union and celebrity talent contracts for commercial shoots.
- Assist drafting on Influencer talent agreements Music
- Learning to perform music rights search and reach out for music licensing with support
- Draft/edit/redline Master and Sync music licenses.
- Track completion of music licenses and payments Production
- Learning to prepare production agreement with help of supervisors
- Learning to process and advise regarding production insurance
- Learning to review scripts for first round of Ad law call outs
- Working on familiarity with production suite of agreements (location, videographer, photographer)
- Review location agreements and provide comments and redlines Licensing and Legal
- Prepare and send out NDA's, redline received NDA's
- Assist with licensing and project status, building and implementing trackers
- Learning to assist in deal term issue spotting and negotiations
- Learning to assist with reach outs, negotiations, contract drafting and preparation
- Assist team to research and keep up to date on relevant legal updates and rules of law
- Assist with Operating agreements, vendor agreements, business formations
