This opportunity is suited to a newly admitted or early-career attorney pursuing significant responsibility, immediate experience, professional independence, and willing to handle a caseload across multiple practice areas. This opportunity allows substantial discretion to evaluate potential client matters and select worthwhile cases; to plan, develop, and implement case strategies best representing the legal profession beginning with the first potential client meeting. Sounder Law provides paralegal and logistical support. The firm primarily handles family law matters and is in need of an attorney to handle non-family cases as well as some family law. We get a high volume of potential client contacts from a wide variety of practice areas and you would choose the cases you wanted. This could be the perfect opportunity for an attorney looking to develop a niche or grind through as many different practice areas as you can while meeting the competency requirements of the Washington Rules of Professional Ethics. Sounder would be pleased to help you build a practice at your initiative. Compensation The pay as an independent contractor attorney is a 50-50 fee split although an employment relationship and benefits could be negotiated, depending on performance, caseload, mutual interest, business needs, and legal requirements. No future employment is guaranteed. Location and Schedule Potential cases from every county in Washington. Remote work is available and offices are available in Des Moines and Redmond.

  • References, if available Responsibilities Manage all phases of litigation from initial case assessment through trial and resolution, including court depositions and motion practice Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to support case strategies Draft and review legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, motions, and discovery requests with precision and clarity Prepare for trial by organizing evidence, developing case theories, and coordinating witness testimony Engage in negotiations with opposing counsel to resolve disputes efficiently while advocating for clients' best interests Maintain comprehensive case management records and ensure compliance with procedural law requirements Communicate effectively with clients to provide updates, explain legal options, and gather necessary information for case development Stay current on developments in various areas of law including estate planning, environmental law, immigration law, landlord-tenant law, family law, securities law, workers' compensation law, tribal law & regulations, patent law, personal injury law, employment law, and general & commercial litigation Qualifications Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in relevant jurisdictions Proven experience in litigation practice areas such as personal injury cases, employment disputes, estate planning conflicts or general commercial litigation Strong research skills with proficiency in LexisNexis and Westlaw platforms Excellent legal writing and drafting skills with attention to detail Demonstrated ability to prepare court motions and conduct procedural law research effectively Experience in client communication and legal negotiation strategies that lead to successful resolutions Familiarity with trial preparation processes including court depositions and evidence organization Knowledge of statutory laws across multiple jurisdictions relevant to the practice areas listed above Join us to make a meaningful impact through vigorous legal advocacy!
