Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated Part-Time / Contract Attorney to join our dynamic legal team. This role offers an exciting opportunity for legal professionals to apply their expertise across a diverse range of practice areas, including estate planning, real estate, litigation, probate, and more. As a key contributor, you will provide valuable legal counsel, conduct research, draft legal documents, and support litigation efforts—all while enjoying flexible working arrangements. This position is ideal for attorneys looking to make a meaningful impact while maintaining work-life balance. Duties Conduct comprehensive legal research using platforms such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to support case development and statutory interpretation. Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, legal motions, pleadings, and other legal documents with precision and clarity. Prepare for trial by organizing evidence, drafting discovery requests, and assisting with trial strategy development. Assist in court depositions by preparing questions and supporting attorneys during proceedings. Support litigation efforts through procedural law knowledge and courtroom advocacy to ensure effective representation of clients' interests. Occasional Consultations Drafting pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents Drafting and responding to discovery Legal research and preparation of research memoranda Drafting demand letters, settlement correspondence, and other legal correspondence Reviewing contracts and legal documents Assisting with civil litigation and real estate-related disputes Assisting with estate planning matters and document preparation Conducting or assisting with estate planning signings Assisting with real estate transactions and closings when needed Occasional court appearances, hearings, or other coverage when the managing attorney is unavailable Other substantive legal work based upon the attorney's experience, interests, and the needs of the firm Skills Strong knowledge of multiple practice areas such as estate planning, real estate, probate and general litigation. Experience in legal research. Excellent legal writing skills with the ability to draft clear and persuasive documents. Familiarity with court depositions and trial preparation procedures. Ability to analyze complex legal issues quickly and develop strategic solutions. Exceptional client communication skills to explain legal concepts clearly and empathetically. Strong research capabilities coupled with attention to detail in legal case management tasks. The ideal candidate is a dependable attorney who is comfortable working independently and enjoys handling a variety of legal matters. Applicants must be licensed and in good standing with the South Carolina Bar. Experience in civil litigation, real estate, estate planning, or probate is helpful but not required in every area. We are more interested in finding an attorney who is a strong writer and researcher, exercises good judgment, communicates well, and is willing to learn. This position may be particularly well suited for an attorney who has another practice, family responsibilities, or simply wants a flexible legal position without committing to a traditional full-time law firm schedule.
Pay:
$65.00 - $90.00 per hour Expected hours: 5.0 - 35.0 per week
