Flexible part-time schedule Competitive compensation based on experience Opportunity for meaningful supplemental income Housing available for the right candidate Direct access to ownership and decision-makers No traditional law-firm billable-hour pressure Substantive litigation and courtroom responsibility Ability to manage matters from strategy through resolution or trial Variety of real estate, business, and property-related matters Potential for a long-term working relationship Some remote work may be possible depending on the matter Responsibilities The attorney will assist with and manage a variety of civil litigation matters, including: Evaluate active and potential litigation Develop litigation and trial strategy Draft and review pleadings, motions, briefs, affidavits, discovery, and other court filings Prepare and respond to written discovery Take and defend depositions Prepare witnesses and exhibits Conduct legal research and analysis Negotiate with opposing counsel Participate in mediations and settlement negotiations Attend and argue hearings and motions Handle or assist with trials Advise ownership regarding litigation risks and settlement options Coordinate with experts, appraisers, consultants, and outside counsel Assist with management of deadlines and active case files Matters may involve real estate disputes, commercial and business litigation, contracts, landlord/tenant matters, title and ownership disputes, construction issues, condemnation, property disputes, and other civil litigation. Qualifications The ideal candidate will have: Active Texas law license in good standing Strong Texas civil litigation experience Courtroom and hearing experience Trial experience strongly preferred Experience with discovery, depositions, motions, and settlement negotiations Strong legal research and writing skills Ability to independently evaluate and manage cases Strong judgment and practical problem-solving skills Ability to communicate directly and effectively with ownership and management Experience in real estate litigation, commercial litigation, property disputes, construction, condemnation, title matters, or landlord/tenant litigation is especially valuable. Flexible Arrangement We understand that an experienced attorney may want to continue practicing without maintaining a traditional full-time law-firm schedule. Compensation & Housing Compensation will be based on experience, availability, and the anticipated workload.
