Insurance Defense AttorneyPosition OverviewWe are seeking a skilled Insurance Defense Attorney to represent insurer clients in a wide range of liability matters. The successful candidate will manage a busy litigation caseload from intake through resolution, develop defense strategies, handle discovery and motion practice, participate in depositions and trials as needed, and maintain strong client relationships. This role requires sound legal judgment, excellent advocacy, and the ability to collaborate with claims teams and outside experts to achieve favorable outcomes while controlling exposure and costs.

Key ResponsibilitiesRepresent insurance clients in state and federal court matters, including pleadings, motion practice, hearings, and trialsManage a diverse caseload of complex litigation matters, from initial case assessment through resolution or trialConduct thorough factual and legal investigations, including taking and defending depositions, directing discovery, and preparing witnessesDraft and respond to pleadings, motions, briefs, settlement documents, and other litigation-related correspondenceDevelop case strategy in collaboration with claims professionals, experts, and co-counsel to achieve cost-effective resolutionsNegotiate settlements and alternative dispute resolution outcomes that align with client goals and exposure limitsPerform legal research and provide clear, practical legal opinions and recommendations to clients and internal stakeholdersSupervise and mentor junior attorneys, paralegals, and support staff; review work product for quality and consistencyMaintain timely and accurate case management records, billing entries, and client communicationsStay current on developments in insurance law, civil procedure, and relevant case law and regulatory changesQualificationsJuris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and admission to the PA bar5+ years of litigation experience with a focus on insurance defense and complex litigation matters; trial experience strongly preferredDemonstrated experience in all phases of litigation, including discovery, motion practice, depositions, and trial preparationStrong legal writing, oral advocacy, and negotiation skillsAbility to manage a heavy caseload, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines while producing high-quality workFamiliarity with e-discovery tools, case management software, and courtroom technologyExperience working with adjusters, claims teams, and experts to evaluate exposure and shape defense strategyBenefitsMedical insuranceDental insuranceVision insuranceRetirement benefitsPaid vacation and PTOHybrid or remote flexibility
