Job Description
Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join a growing global organization within the clinical research and life sciences industry for a hybrid permanent position based in Raleigh, NC . The Senior Legal Counsel will serve as a key legal advisor, partnering with business leaders across the organization to support commercial operations, manage risk, and provide strategic guidance on a variety of legal matters within a multinational environment. Responsibilities of the Senior Legal Counsel include:
- Lead the review, drafting, and negotiation of complex commercial agreements, including client, vendor, consulting, and strategic partnership contracts.
- Provide legal guidance on corporate, employment, compliance, privacy, and operational matters while balancing business objectives and risk mitigation.
- Partner with cross-functional teams including Business Development and Operations to identify legal risks and support key business initiatives.
- Assist with mergers, acquisitions, due diligence activities, and integration efforts related to strategic growth opportunities.
- Support the enhancement of legal processes, compliance programs, and risk management frameworks across the organization. Qualifications for the Senior Legal Counsel include:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active admission to practice law within the United States.
- 10+ years of post-qualification legal experience with significant expertise in sophisticated commercial contracting and negotiations.
- Prior experience supporting organizations within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, CRO, healthcare, or broader life sciences industries.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and negotiate effectively with executive leadership and senior stakeholders.
- Experience working within multinational organizations and managing legal matters across multiple jurisdictions.
- Strong business acumen with a practical, solutions-oriented approach to legal and commercial challenges.
