Responsibilities Analyze complex legal and factual issues, conduct thorough, well-reasoned legal research, and independently develop and present defense strategies. Prepare pleadings, written discovery, motions, and briefs in support of defense strategies. Prepare for, attend, and handle all case-related activities, including all court appearances. Provide effective and timely communications, information, legal advice, and other services to claims professionals on legal and factual issues. Communicate with the court, claims professionals, witnesses, opposing counsel, and clients in a manner consistent with established office procedures. Ensure the prompt, efficient, and effective disposition of assigned cases.
Qualifications Required:
Attorney licensed and in good standing with the New Jersey State Bar. 3+ years of workers' compensation experience Knowledge of New Jersey Workers' Compensation statutes, case law, and local court policies and procedures. Strong legal research, writing, and negotiation skills. Ability to exercise independent judgment, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Self-motivated with excellent time management and organizational skills, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
Preferred:
Defense-based workers' compensation litigation experience. Experience with legal software and dictation. Working knowledge of Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and Microsoft Word. Compensation Our total compensation package includes a year-end bonus, fully covered medical benefits, paid time off, 401(k) retirement plan and CLE and bar admission at no cost. Expected salary is $100,000 to $150,000 and is commensurate with experience and credentials. Candidates should submit a resume and cover letter for consideration.
