About General Prosecution About Special Prosecution Come join the General and Special Prosecution team of the SC Attorney General's Office! Prosecutors get to travel throughout the state and handle a variety of cases; everything from drug cases to murders, hit and runs to human trafficking. You'll have the opportunity to work with various law enforcement agencies, different defense bars, and appear before judges across the state. Hours First Human Trafficking Guilty Trial Verdict:
Guilty verdict in 35-year-old no-body homicide cold case: Murder Conviction in Spartanburg County Guilty Plea in Manslaughter case after locating the missing body Performs under limited supervision legal work for the State, its subdivisions, and officials. Primarily assigned to the General and Special Prosecution Unit of the Criminal Division, serving as an Assistant Attorney General.
Case Intake and Evaluation:
Assists in the beginning stages of a case being referred to and accepted by the office
Case Management and Progression:
Advances the case through the judicial system in an appropriate manner.
Case Disposition:
Seeks a just resolution in all cases.
Docket Management:
Handles their caseload and provides relevant information for reporting.
Miscellaneous Matters:
Handles miscellaneous matters assigned, including attending and conducting training. This position also includes an excellent benefits package: Public Service Loan Forgiveness eligibility. Paid parental leave. Health, dental, vision, long-term disability, and life insurance for employees, spouses, and children. Fifteen days of annual (vacation) leave per year. Fifteen days of sick leave per year. Thirteen paid holidays. State Retirement Plan and Deferred Compensation Programs. Juris Doctorate Degree with three to seven years of experience as a practicing attorney.
Necessary Requirements:
Must be a member and in good standing with the South Carolina Bar. Must satisfy Rule 403 requirements
Additional Requirements:
Position may require travel overnight. Position may require travel and transporting files Knowledge of the laws of South Carolina. Knowledge of general case, statutory, and common law. Knowledge of judicial and quasi-judicial procedures and rules of guidance. Ability to interpret and apply laws in court decisions. Ability to analyze facts, evidence, and legal instruments. Ability to express conclusions and arguments clearly and logically. Ability to plan and direct the activities of a legal staff.
