Job Description
A respected Carolinas litigation firm is seeking a workers' compensation defense associate for a confidential opportunity. The Opportunity The attorney will defend claims for employers and insurers across a range of industries while working directly with experienced partners. The role offers meaningful case ownership, client contact, and advocacy experience in a supportive team environment. What You'll Do Manage a workers' compensation defense caseload with partner and staff support. Analyze new and existing claims, investigate facts, review medical records, and develop case strategy. Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery responses, client reports, and settlement documentation. Take depositions of parties, witnesses, medical providers, and experts. Represent employers, carriers, and administrators in mediations, hearings, and settlement negotiations. Maintain clear, timely communication with clients, including insurance adjusters and risk managers. Active South Carolina law license in good standing. At least 2 years of workers' compensation experience; defense experience is strongly preferred. Deposition and mediation experience preferred. Strong research, writing, oral-advocacy, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with partners and staff. Ability to commute to or relocate to the Charlotte area before starting. Competitive compensation with performance-based opportunity.
