This Long-term Contract position is ideal for a contracts attorney who brings strong judgment, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage a high volume of legal matters with speed and precision. The role centers on advising a college environment on contract-related issues, procurement matters, and legal risk, while collaborating closely with internal stakeholders across a wide range of operational areas. This opportunity begins as a 6-month assignment and may lead to permanent employment for someone who demonstrates outstanding performance and strong alignment with the team culture.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead the drafting, review, negotiation, and administration of a broad range of agreements supporting college operations.
  • Prepare and revise documents such as memoranda of understanding, vendor contracts, partnership agreements, healthcare-related agreements, and selected statements of work.
  • Create, update, and standardize contract templates to improve consistency, efficiency, and legal compliance.
  • Contribute to the development of contracting policies and procedures that support sound institutional practices.
  • Advise procurement teams on legal exposure, contract terms, supplier performance concerns, and vendor protest matters.
  • Provide guidance on sourcing approaches and other purchasing-related legal questions in coordination with business stakeholders.
  • Oversee matters after initial law clerk intake and redlining, taking primary ownership of final legal review, negotiation strategy, and issue resolution.
  • Manage a substantial caseload in a fast-moving environment while setting expectations clearly and communicating realistic turnaround times to internal clients. Requirements
  • 5-10 years of experience handling contracts, with consideration given to candidates with more extensive practice backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated strength in contract drafting, negotiation, and risk assessment across complex commercial or institutional agreements.
  • Prior experience supporting government entities or higher education organizations is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with procurement law, contracting processes, and vendor-related legal issues is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work effectively in a primarily on-site setting Monday through Friday, with potential flexibility for an exceptional candidate.
  • Strong communication, prioritization, and follow-through skills with the ability to respond effectively in a high-demand environment.
  • Experience with commercial contracts, corporate law, corporate governance, or related transactional legal work.
  • Capacity to handle multiple concurrent matters independently while collaborating well with attorneys, clerks, procurement professionals, and business stakeholders.
