Annual Job Summary:
Our client is seeking a motivated and compassionate Junior Criminal Defense Attorney to join their growing legal team. This opportunity is well suited for an attorney with some criminal law experience, as well as a recent law school graduate with a strong interest in criminal defense. The ideal candidate is passionate about advocacy, committed to client service, and eager to develop their courtroom and litigation skills. You will work alongside experienced attorneys and support staff while gaining hands-on experience handling a variety of criminal defense matters. Key Responsibilities Represent clients in criminal defense matters, including court appearances, hearings, and other legal proceedings. Assist with case strategy, legal research, motions, briefs, and other court filings. Conduct client consultations and maintain clear, timely communication with clients. Review evidence, police reports, discovery, and other case materials. Prepare for hearings, negotiations, and other proceedings. Conduct legal research and analyze statutes, case law, and relevant legal authorities. Work closely with senior attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to manage cases, deadlines, and documentation. Communicate with prosecutors, courts, opposing counsel, and other parties as needed. Participate in community outreach, legal education, and other firm initiatives. Provide compassionate, client-focused, and zealous representation. Qualifications Recent law school graduates are encouraged to apply. 0-1 years of criminal defense or criminal law experience is preferred but not required. Active Texas State Bar license and in good standing required. Strong interest in criminal defense and litigation. Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple cases, deadlines, and priorities. Trial, moot court, law review, legal clinic, or internship experience is a plus. Spanish fluency strongly required. Must be comfortable working in person.
