Nelson Jones has served Utah's legal community for decades and continues to grow. Our firm includes nine attorneys and a fully built-out support team, including paralegals, legal assistants, marketing, and administrative staff. We provide the infrastructure, systems, and case flow needed for attorneys to focus on practicing law and maximizing their production.
Position:
Associate Attorney, Family Law We are seeking an experienced Family Law Attorney with a minimum of two years of active practice experience who is ready to operate at a high level.This opportunity is well-suited for:
Attorneys who want to increase their earnings based on performance Attorneys who are confident managing a full caseload and driving matters to resolution Solo practitioners who are tired of handling everything themselves and want to plug into an established system Attorneys who may be exploring the transition or integration of an existing book of business into a growing firm Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Manage a full caseload of family law matters from intake through resolution Represent clients in all aspects of family law proceedings Conduct legal research and draft high-quality legal documents Communicate directly with clients and provide clear, strategic guidance Prepare for and attend mediations, hearings, and trials Drive cases forward efficiently while maintaining strong client relationships Meet or exceed a target of 133 billable hours per monthQualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of active family law practice experience required Proven ability to manage cases independently Strong litigation and/or settlement negotiation experience Excellent written and verbal communication skills Highly organized with the ability to manage competing priorities The ideal candidate is confident in the courtroom, comfortable making decisions, and motivated by performance-based compensation. You should be someone who takes ownership of your cases, your clients, and your results.Firm Support & Case Flow :
Nelson Jones provides the infrastructure and resources necessary for attorneys to focus on practicing law at a high level. Our firm maintains a consistent flow of qualified clients through established marketing and intake systems. Attorneys are supported by dedicated staff, including paralegals, legal assistants, and administrative personnel, allowing you to stay focused on case strategy, client communication, and results, not administrative burden or lead generation. For attorneys with an existing book of business, we offer the flexibility and support to integrate and grow that practice within our platform.Compensation & Benefits:
We offer a highly competitive, performance-driven compensation structure designed to reward production and results. Attorneys meeting performance metrics can reasonably expect earnings in the $140,000-$160,000+ range, with significantly higher earning potential for those who exceed production targets or bring an existing book of business. This is not a capped compensation model, your income is directly tied to your output and results. Specific compensation details and structure will be discussed during the interview process.Benefits include:
