Annual Job Summary:
Our client is seeking an experienced Estates & Trusts Attorney to join its growing practice group. The attorney will focus on estate planning and estate/trust administration, advising clients throughout the planning and administration process. This opportunity is open to Virginia-based attorneys and does not require regular work from the firm's primary office. An office location in Arlington, Virginia is available, and the firm is open to flexible working arrangements. The ideal candidate is client-focused, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing matters independently while working collaboratively with attorneys and support staff. Key Responsibilities Estate Planning Meet with clients to understand their goals and develop comprehensive estate plans. Prepare and advise on wills, revocable trusts, powers of attorney, advance medical directives, and related estate planning documents. Advise clients on estate planning strategies based on their financial circumstances, family dynamics, and long-term objectives. Review and analyze client financial and asset information to identify appropriate planning strategies. Oversee the preparation, execution, and implementation of estate planning documents in coordination with paralegals and other staff. Participate in client consultations, signing appointments, and follow-up meetings. Maintain a high level of professionalism and provide a positive client experience throughout the planning process. Estate & Trust Administration Guide fiduciaries and beneficiaries through estate and trust administration from initial intake through completion. Assist with probate filings and other court requirements in Virginia. Advise clients and fiduciaries regarding their responsibilities, timelines, and available administration strategies. Coordinate with paralegals, attorneys, and other team members to ensure administration matters progress efficiently. Communicate regularly with clients regarding case status, next steps, and outstanding requirements. Identify potential issues and provide practical legal guidance throughout the administration process. Required Qualifications Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree. Active Virginia Bar license required. Experience practicing in estate planning and/or estate and trust administration. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple matters, deadlines, and client relationships effectively. Strong professional judgment and ability to work independently. Client-focused approach with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships. Comfortable conducting client consultations and participating in meetings. Ability to work collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff. Preferred Qualifications Active Maryland and/or District of Columbia Bar license. Experience working in a law firm or professional services environment. Familiarity with legal practice management and case management software. Experience handling both estate planning and estate/trust administration matters. Compensation & Benefits Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
