Job Description

Associate Attorney - Elder Law & Estate Planning Job Overview A well-established law firm is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney with approximately 2 years of legal experience to join its elder law and estate planning practice. This is an in-person position . The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in elder law, estate planning, and working directly with clients and their families. Schedule Full-time, approximately 40 hours per week Standard hours are approximately 9:00 AM-5:00 PM Occasional additional hours or days may be required to meet client needs and assist with educational seminars Remote work is not available initially, although a remote or hybrid arrangement may be possible after successful completion of training Responsibilities Provide legal services to firm clients in the areas of elder law and estate planning Meet with clients initially alongside a senior attorney and, following training, independently conduct client meetings Advise clients regarding estate planning, asset protection, elder care, medical and caregiving-related legal needs, and related matters Draft and review legal documents under appropriate supervision Attend educational seminars and, after training, assist with or present portions of seminars to the public Explain complex legal concepts to clients in a clear and understandable manner Assist with general legal and administrative responsibilities as needed Work collaboratively with the legal team while also managing assignments independently Maintain a high level of professionalism, organization, accuracy, and client service Training The successful candidate will complete an initial training and evaluation period of at least two weeks. Training will include the firm's procedures, client interactions, legal document preparation, and participation in educational seminars. Additional compensation opportunities may become available following successful completion of training. Ideal Qualifications Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree Approximately 2-3 years of legal or law office experience preferred Admission to a U.S. state bar, preferably Virginia, strongly preferred Experience with wills, trusts, estate planning, elder law, or related practice areas preferred Strong interest in elder law and estate planning Compassionate and patient approach when working with seniors and their families Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to multitask effectively Comfortable explaining complex legal concepts to clients Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, email, web-based applications, and legal drafting software Dependable, trustworthy, and professional Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team Candidates who are not admitted to the Virginia bar, or who are admitted in another jurisdiction, may also be considered if they possess relevant experience and demonstrate the skills required for the position.
Compensation & Benefits Salary:
Approximately $75,000-$95,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience Additional bonus/commission opportunities may be available following completion of training Health insurance Relocation assistance Opportunities for advancement
