PEER RECOVERY SPECIALIST - MAT / FAMILY SUPPORT PARTNER

Non-Exempt Encompass Community Supports, formerly known as Rappahannock Rapidan Community Services (RRCS) is hiring a Peer Recovery Specialist - MAT/Family Support Partner. Our Peer Recovery Specialist - MAT/Family Support Partners provide non-clinical, person-centered, strengths based, wellness focused, and trauma-informed support while helping to ensure the person's recovery, resiliency, and wellness plan reveals the needs and preferences of the person being served to complete their measurable and personalized goals. Peer Recovery Specialists serve adults with behavioral health challenges. Family Support Partners serve parent peers and family members who provide support to parents and children who experience behavioral health challenges. Work is performed under regular supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide face to face interactions that supports an individual achieving their self-identified level of recovery, wellness, independence or personal strength. Provide trained peer-to-peer support in groups encouraging and supporting participation and self-directed participation. Mentor community integration activities, one-to-one and/or in groups. Provide emotional support during the acquisition, exploration and sustaining of employment and/or educational services. Attend treatment team and program development meetings. Attend, participate, and facilitate community partner/stakeholder meetings. Perform Recovery Capital Scale Strengths Based Assessments; Recovery, Resiliency, and Wellness Plans; and quarterly reviews, to ensure the participants service needs and self-identified measurable goals are being supported. Complete documentation in the Electronic Health Record system within 24 business hours of completed service (Documentation notes, enrollment forms, assessments, recovery plan, progress entries, etc.). Ensure all required/assigned training is completed in a timely manner (Relias, DBHDS modules, evidenced-based trainings, etc.). Attends community and agency events and share information on the program and Peer Services.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

All knowledge, skills, and abilities performed in a manner that aligns with the principles of recovery-oriented, person-centered, non-coercive, trauma-informed, and relationship-focused. Current body of mental health and substance use disorder knowledge. Recovery process - promoting services, supports, and strategies. Crisis Intervention basics. Values for the role of Peer Recovery Specialist. Basic principles related to health and wellness. Stage appropriate pathways in recovery support. Ethics and boundaries. Cultural sensitivity and practice. Trauma and its impact on recovery. Community resources. Delivering peer services within agencies and organizations. Knowledge surrounding the operation and care of computer equipment and cellular devices; knowledge of MS Office, to include Word, Excel and Teams; knowledge of other video-conferencing software.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required High School diploma or equivalent At least one year of personal experience living in recovery with mental health/substance use challenges or the family member/supporter of a person who experienced mental health/substance use challenges.

Preferred:

Successful completion of a DBHDS approved peer recovery specialist training program and/or Virginia Certified Peer Specialist and/or Certified WRAP (Wellness and Recovery Action Plan) facilitator and/or certified SMART (Self-Management and Recovery Training) Recovery facilitator.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This work requires little or no physical effort or exertion.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Valid Virginia driver's license; Attends training and maintains certifications as required by the Agency and regulatory guidelines. Attendance at all mandatory staff development and training expected.
