DOE THE OPPORTUNITY
This firm is looking to appoint an experienced Family Solicitor, Chartered Legal Executive, or equivalent professionals with significant expertise in privately funded family law. They are seeking someone who is an enthusiastic and collaborative team player with strong technical expertise and a passion for delivering outstanding client care. As Head of Family, you will be responsible for leading, developing, and growing the department, supporting colleagues to thrive whilst maintaining the high standards of client care and technical expertise that underpin the firm's reputation.
THE ROLE
You will provide specialist advice across all areas of privately funded family law, with particular experience in advising those with substantial assets and complex financial arrangements arising from relationship breakdown.
Your main responsibilities will include:
  • Managing a varied caseload of privately funded family matters, including divorce, financial remedy, and children arrangement matters from initial instruction through to resolution.
  • Advising clients on complex and high-value financial matters with sensitivity and professionalism.
  • Leading and develop the family team, fostering a positive and collaborative working environment.
  • Supervising, mentoring, and supporting junior members of staff, including apprentices and trainee solicitors, helping to develop the next generation of Family Solicitors.
  • Playing an active role in business development by maintaining and developing relationships with existing and prospective referrers and professional contacts.
  • Contributing to the strategic direction and growth of the Family department, identifying opportunities to enhance the service the firm provide to their clients.
THE CANDIDATE
Applications are welcomed from those with at least 7 years of experience in Family Law, you could be a Family Solicitor, Chartered Legal Executive, or someone with equivalent experience. You will also have qualities such as:
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Decisiveness, with the ability to solve complex workplace issues and manage departments and budgets effectively.
  • Possess a deep experience in all family law matters.
  • Empathy, listening well and showing care for clients.
  • The ability to stay calm under pressure.
