Job Description
Description We are looking for an experienced Attorney/Lawyer to join a boutique franchise law practice in Virginia. This role offers the opportunity to advise a diverse client base that ranges from emerging brands to established global franchise systems across multiple industries. The position is well suited for a legal practitioner who values high-caliber client service, practical business counsel, and a collaborative environment that supports long-term career satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
- Advise franchisor clients on legal considerations involved in launching, expanding, and operating franchise systems.
- Prepare and negotiate franchise agreements and related commercial documents that support ongoing business growth and risk management.
- Develop disclosure materials required under applicable federal, state, and international franchise regulations.
- Manage and coordinate franchise registration and regulatory filing processes across relevant jurisdictions.
- Counsel clients on franchisee relationship matters, including compliance issues, operational disputes, and system governance concerns.
- Support cross-border franchise matters, private equity transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and other strategic business deals involving franchise brands.
- Represent franchisors in disputes with current or former franchisees, including motion practice, briefing, discovery, and other litigation-related activities.
- Provide guidance on trademark matters, licensing structures, distribution models, supply chain arrangements, and vendor contracts. Requirements
- Must be licensed to practice in Virginia.
- Demonstrated experience in franchise law, commercial transactions, or closely related business law matters.
- Background handling litigation matters, including drafting motions, preparing briefs, and managing discovery.
- Strong ability to analyze legal issues and provide clear, business-focused recommendations to clients.
- Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex legal agreements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a detail-oriented and client-centered approach.
- Ability to manage multiple matters effectively while maintaining attention to detail and responsiveness.
