PM Summary:
Under the supervision of the OR Manager, the support specialist is responsible for the overall administrative and reception duties of the OR. The support specialist is responsible for surgical scheduling 24 hours prior to the day of surgery and for any emergency and add-ons for the day. The incumbent will be responsible and accountable for collecting accurate surgical data/information and communicating with the OR Manager, OR Staff, physicians and other departments as appropriate. Coordinates the transport of patients within the hospital to the Operating Room and PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit). The incumbent performs duties and tasks in accordance with performance standards established for the job. The incumbent may have access to highly confidential patient, employee and/or Mercy proprietary information, and must handle & protect the information in accordance with hospital & system policies, HIPAA requirements and the highest level of ethical standards. The incumbent is responsible for reporting all security events, potential events, or other security risks to the organization. The incumbent is responsible for participation in and completion of all patient safety initiatives appropriate to the position and conducts all job responsibilities according to the Mission and Values of Hospital.

Administrative support Answers, screens, delivers & reroutes telephone calls in a timely manner Facilitates the dissemination of correspondence and information in a professional format Provides general office & administrative support to the OR Manager & Director Performs other administrative and special project-oriented tasks as assigned by manager Participates in continuing education programs for departmental employees Attend scheduled updates on topics pertinent to job Researches best practices for job specific functions Actively participates & attends scheduled staff meetings Promotes an environment that supports cooperative, professional relationships for customers and staff Identifies the need for system & process changes and recommends solutions Facilitates and actively participates in the implementation of change
