DSHS ESA DDS
Examiner Support Specialist 2 The Division of Disability Determination Services (DDDS), a division within DSHS's Economic Services Administration , has an opening for an Examiner Support Specialist to join their team. DDDS staff are Washington State employees whose work is federally funded and directed by The United States Social Security Administration (SSA). Together, SSA and DSHS serve the public by providing an avenue to medical and financial resources by making disability determinations. As an Examiner Support Specialist 2, you will support disability claims processing by responding to customer inquiries, verifying and updating claim information, retrieving records, managing a limited caseload of specialized claims, and assisting team members by gathering information from claimants. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys organizing information, spotting and resolving issues, working in a team environment, and providing excellent customer service. Your attention to detail and ability to follow procedures will help keep claims moving forward and ensure customers receive timely updates.Note:
This is an in-office position located in Federal Way, WA. King County employees receive 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary and are eligible to receive a free ORCA card for transportation use. Some of what you'll do: Coordinate CE scheduling by arranging physical and mental examinations for Social Security disability claimants. Review CE orders from adjudicators and ALJs to determine which medical services should be authorized. Select appropriate CE providers using multiple systems and medical test availability. Evaluate claimant information to ensure requested examinations and tests align with the claimant's allegations. Modify examination orders based on medical knowledge, test requirements, and SSA policy. Apply SSA regulations when scheduling examinations and interpreting POMS guidance. Analyze statewide CE trends in collaboration with Professional Relations staff to assess provider demand. Resolve CE-related issues by researching and addressing complex complaints, discrepancies, and technical problems. Verify CE report accuracy to ensure contract compliance, correct CPT coding, and completeness before authorizing payment. Coordinate claimant support services including interpreter, travel, and special-needs arrangements. Who should apply? Professionals with; One year of experience at the DDS Examiner Support Specialist 1 level. OR A combination of education and/or experience totaling three (3) years; experience in an office or customer service setting performing administrative tasks, answering telephones, operating office equipment, typing, and creating business correspondence/notes.
