In this role, you will be the primary line of defense against theft, inventory shrinkage, and safety hazards, while serving as a visible deterrent and providing excellent customer service. You'll also work closely with store leadership to identify and correct inventory shrinkage issues.
Key Responsibilities Store Monitoring & Patrols:
Conduct regular foot patrols throughout the sales floor, register areas, storage rooms, loading docks, and exterior parking areas.
Loss Prevention:
Observe both employee and customer behaviors to deter and prevent shoplifting and inventory shrinkage. Leverage inventory reporting to identify opportunities to address inventory shrinkage, and work with the store team to implement process corrections.
Incident Response:
Calmly and professionally respond to incidents, emergencies, disturbances, medical situations, or customer conflicts according to company protocol.
Access Control & Safety:
Monitor store entrances and exits; assist store management during opening/closing procedures and high-foot-traffic hours.
De-escalation & Customer Service:
Greet customers warmly and handle high-stress situations with tact, professional judgment, and conflict resolution techniques.
Reporting & Documentation:
Maintain detailed and accurate daily logs, accident reports, and theft incident documentation for store leadership and law enforcement when necessary.
Emergency Preparedness:
Assist with evacuations, fire alarms, or emergency procedures in alignment with store safety policies.
Qualifications & Skills Experience:
1+ years of experience in security, loss prevention, retail security, or customer service preferred.
Licensing:
Valid Florida Security Guard License / Guard Card (or ability to obtain prior to hiring)
Skills:
Strong verbal communication and active listening skills. Excellent conflict resolution and de-escalation abilities. Keen situational awareness and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, and remain active on your feet for extended periods (8+ hours) and lift up to 25-50 lbs if necessary.
Availability:
Flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as required by retail operations. Preferred Qualifications First Aid, CPR, and AED certification. Knowledge of CCTV/surveillance camera systems. Prior experience in retail or high-traffic environments. Physical Demands Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (often 8+ hours per shift). Ability to comfortably lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 50 lbs (e.g., bags of flour, cases of produce). Comfortable working in a busy, hot, and noisy kitchen environment. Ability to perform repetitive movements, including chopping, slicing, and bending.
