Job Description

Job Summary The Executive Protection Specialist is responsible for providing close protection and security support to designated Marriott International executives and other protectees. Operating as part of the Global Safety & Security Department, this role delivers proactive, intelligence‑driven protection services across corporate offices, hotels, private residences, transportation environments, and special events. The position requires frequent travel, operational flexibility, sound judgment, and the ability to operate discreetly in high‑visibility corporate and public settings.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience Required 5+ years experience in executive protection, law enforcement, military, or corporate security environments. Executive protection training from a recognized institution or government agency. Demonstrated experience providing close protection and conducting advances. Valid U.S. driver's license with the ability to meet company driving standards; training in evasive driving with demonstrated proficiency in protective and defensive driving techniques. Strong situational awareness, decision‑making, and interpersonal skills. Proven experience exercising discretion, professionalism, and sound judgment while operating in a sensitive, high-visibility, or confidential environment. Willingness and ability to travel at least 50% of the time, often on short notice. Preferred Bachelor's degree Experience supporting senior corporate executives in high‑visibility environments. Background in risk assessment, intelligence analysis, or protective operations planning. CPR/AED and first aid certification.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Executive Protection Operations Provide close protection services to designated protectees during domestic travel, meetings, events, and daily activities. Serve as a primary or secondary driver for protectees, utilizing defensive and protective driving techniques. Manage administrative requirements related to executive protection equipment, training records, internal checks, and reporting needs. Respond appropriately to emerging threats, incidents, or medical emergencies. Advance & Planning Conduct comprehensive advance work for travel, meetings, and events, including site surveys, route planning, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders. Identify vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation strategies tailored to the protectee, location, and threat environment. Liaise with hotel security, local law enforcement, venue security, and private partners as needed. Residential & Facility Security Conduct residential security assessments for executives, identifying physical, procedural, and environmental risks. Provide practical, scalable recommendations to enhance residential and personal security. Assist with assessments of offices, hotels, and other facilities as required. Risk Assessment & Intelligence Support Assist Global Safety & Security leadership with executive risk assessments and threat monitoring. Contribute to protective intelligence gathering, analysis, and reporting. Support development and refinement of protective plans based on evolving risk conditions. Special Events & Corporate Support Support security operations for corporate meetings, board meetings, and special events. Assist with access control, credentialing, technically aided searches, crowd management, and incident response planning. Participate in after‑action reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
