Illinois Casualty Company is growing, and we have an opportunity for a Loss Control Specialist to join one of the leading providers of insurance protection for the food and beverage industry. Base location of Michigan preferred but not required. The Loss Control Specialist is responsible for applying industry and general safety knowledge in the inspection of risks to eliminate or greatly reduce hazards that could lead to loss at prospective or existing policyholders. The Specialist will identify and evaluate risk factors, exposures, and hazards for multiple lines of business, while reporting results to Underwriting. This is a travel heavy position. Essential Functions Conducting inspection and risk analysis of renewals and new business account operations including risk evaluation, loss analysis, and loss control programs within an assigned territory Objectively considering issues and information, identifying alternatives, deciding and implementing solutions, in order to deliver services and provide value Applying knowledge of negotiating techniques, subject matter, and strategy to obtain commitment, compromise, or settlement in a way that promotes mutual goals or interest Providing assistance to the policyholder in the form of detailed action plans, program recommendations, training, and consultative services Building positive relationships with agents and policyholders Taking initiative to enhance loss control/industry knowledge through participation in training and educational programs Acting as a technical resource for underwriting and the insured Conducting training programs, and performing inspections in territories as needed Additional duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent insurance related experience High level of skill and competency in IT, Microsoft products, and loss control systems Proficiency in effectively communicating in both written and verbal form responding to inquiries from policyholders, agents, vendors, and internal associates Aptitude for presenting various Company training programs to large groups of policy holders, agents, vendors, and internal associates Ability to accurately perform basic mathematical functions as necessary to make projections, identify and analyze problems Ability to solve practical and non-routine problems and deal with a number of variables where standardization may not exist Demonstrated ability to effectively plan and organize work to achieve desired outcomes Must possess a valid driver's license issued by the state of residence Rewards The ability to have a direct impact on the success of a small, but growing organization Opportunities to grow and advance through our Personal Professional Development Program Participation in a comprehensive health plan, flexible work schedule, remote work opportunities, Retirement Plan, and Profit Sharing Bonus program!
