A Paralegal or Legal Assistant assists attorneys and law offices with a variety of tasks ranging from administrative support to legal research and writing. Maintains and organizes files or file databases. Conducts legal or other background research, assists with preparation for trials or hearings, and drafts documents to be filed. Uses software for electronic discovery of materials such as email for a trial. May specialize in a particular area of the law such as corporate or criminal law, family law or real estate law.

Job Description

Brock and Stout Attorneys at Law is seeking a full-time Legal Assistant/Case Manager for their fast-growing Social Security Disability Department to work out of our Dothan, Alabama office. Previous experience in the legal field or in Social Security Disability law is preferred, but we will strongly consider other candidates who has a background in familiarity with file management, client relations, and computer proficiency. Pay is commensurate with experience.
Skills:
General office and customer service experience Strong time management and organizational skills. Strong client contact skills and telephone etiquette. Ability to prioritize and plan daily work activities. Ability to oversee a large number of cases, under the supervision of a Team Leader and Attorney. Excellent written, verbal and human relations skills Excellent computer skills including: MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Ability to multi-task and to work well within a fast-paced environment. Strong emotional strength and maturity to deal effectively with a challenging and vulnerable population. Ability to meet deadlines while balancing competing demands and performance benchmarks. Self-motivated, responsible, and accountable.
Other preferred skills:
Experience with Social Security Disability Claims Experience in Case Management Knowledge of Social Security Disability Law and Prevail software a plus.
