Job Description

Legal Assistant Full-Time, Monday to Friday This position is responsible for providing secretarial support to attorneys as needed. Responsibilities Preparing correspondence and documents of a legal nature such as contracts, discovery, motions, briefs and subpoenas from draft or dictated text Formatting and proofreading correspondence, briefs, pleadings, contracts and other legal documents Filing legal documents (knowledge of Court rules and e-filing skills are preferred) Transcribing dictations Manage calendars, schedule meetings and coordinate court and other similar deadlines Answer phones, greet clients, and maintain professional client communications Performing other general office and clerical duties as needed Filing correspondence and legal documents in office systems, opening and closing files, and maintaining information on clients Scanning and submitting invoices and reimbursements for attorneys Arranging travel, appointments, conference calls, etc. Calendaring and docketing Entering attorney time in the Firm's system and/or reviewing and editing attorney's time entry Performing other duties as assigned Requirements High School Diploma or Equivalent Three (3) years of secretarial experience in a law firm or legal department Experience with time entry and dictation software preferred Demonstrate knowledge of Table of Contents and Table of Authorities Knowledge of or familiarity with certain court procedures Strong technical skills and knowledge of Microsoft Suites, including Word, Outlook and Excel Excellent written communication skills to edit and proofread correspondence and legal documents Ability to type accurately and efficiently from draft or dictation with a minimum of 50 wpm Ability to deal professionally and effectively with both internal and external clients on all levels Ability to prioritize and analyze routine administrative details such as resolving minor scheduling conflicts, making travel arrangements, redirecting mail, etc. Ability to work independently and/or in a team concept within a fast-paced environment Requires the ability to regularly report to work on the days and times scheduled Ability to handle confidential information with discretion Travel This position has little to no travel.
