Call 870-910-5627 About the Position A Jonesboro, Arkansas law firm is seeking a professional, dependable, and organized Legal Assistant to provide legal and administrative support in a busy, fast-paced office. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in building experience in the legal field. Previous legal experience is preferred but not required. Candidates with strong receptionist, customer service, clerical, secretarial, administrative, or data-entry experience who are willing to learn are encouraged to apply. Key Responsibilities Answer phones, take messages, document information, and provide professional customer service. Respond to emails and communicate with clients, attorneys, prosecutors, court personnel, and other legal staff. Handle calls to prosecutors and legal staff within the local court system. Assist the attorney with daily tasks and legal matters. Draft correspondence, contracts, estate planning documents, and other legal documents. Prepare real estate documents, including deeds, contracts, leases, and 1031 exchange documents. Draft, file, and manage probate cases. Assist with corporate entity formation and related documents. File documents with state and federal courts. Record deeds, easements, and other legal documents. Schedule appointments and manage calendars. Assist with client meetings as a notary and witness when qualified. Maintain organized physical and electronic files. Perform copying, scanning, transcription, data entry, and spreadsheet duties. Assist with billing and timekeeping. Assist with legal secretary duties and delegation as needed. Complete other legal, clerical, and office duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required:
High school diploma or equivalent. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Professional, dependable, and detail-oriented. Ability to multitask in a high-volume, fast-paced office. Basic computer and database skills. Experience with email, filing, documentation, and data entry. Familiarity with Microsoft Word. Ability to sit for extended periods and perform routine office duties.
Preferred:
Legal assistant, paralegal, legal secretary, or law office experience. Previous receptionist, clerical, administrative, or secretarial experience. Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience. Paralegal certification. Notary public commission. Experience with legal document preparation or legal research. Knowledge of WordPerfect. Familiarity with Microsoft Office and legal software. Experience with probate, estate planning, real estate, corporate, or court-related matters.
