Job Description
BILINGUAL- FLUENT ENGLISH AND SPANISH REQUIRED.
$18-24 per hour. Opportunity to negotiate higher pay for candidates who have demonstrated previous paralegal experience. You will be working for a small-midsize law firm, primarily assisting our domestic relations attorney, but will be required to perform secretarial/intake/reception/translation work as well. At times you will also be required to assist all 5 attorneys in the firm, mostly in handling discovery, intakes, billing, and client relations. Rojas Smith is a general practice law firm and you will be required to multitask and help attorneys manage a busy caseload. Our attorneys actively litigate and are in weekly trials, including family law, probate, civil, personal injury, real estate/eviction, criminal, and mediation.
•We are currently located in Springdale, but may relocate to Rogers, AR soon, near Pinnacle Hills. This job will be fast-paced, demanding, and you must present with a level of sophistication and professionalism as your role will sometimes involve being a client's first impression of our firm, and you will often communicate with other attorneys, judges, clerks, and professionals who will not tolerate rudeness nor slow service. We have 5 attorneys who practice here who may require your assistance, though your role will primarily assist in family law cases (divorce, custody, paternity, child abuse, adoption, guardianships, DHS and police evidence included). 40 hours per week. Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm. Limited overtime. One-hour unpaid lunch. Full-time only. Start ASAP. Hoping to fill position by end of Sept. 2026. Please reach out immediately if interested, by following the specific instructions at the end of the post. Benefit participation option after 90 days (health, vision, dental, PTO for approved holidays). Retirement participation plan with employer contribution. If you read all of that and you'd like to apply and interview to work here, then send me (Shelby) an email with attached resume and days and times available within the next two weeks you would be available to come in and meet us. Your email should include exactly the following (it is your application): 1. Briefly introduce yourself and tell me why you are a good fit, why you'd like to work with us, and how this post reached you. 2. Attach a current one-page resume. 3. In your email, please call out your strengths and experience. Sell yourself however suits you best so I can get a feeling for your personality and communication style. Please just be yourself, polite and professional, but not overly formal. 4. Give me ALL times between the hours of 10am-5pm, M-F, you would be able to come in for a one-hour interview, through Oct 9, 2026. General windows of availability are fine, as long as I can easily tell when to schedule you. All inquiries and resumes should be submitted to Shelby Anthony, shelby@arjustice.com. Just use my first name, please. No need to be too formal. If you send me anything other than what I asked for, or with missing information, you will not be considered for the position. I look forward to hearing from candidates who believe they are a good fit!
Qualifications required:
1. Some college completion or comparable office experience. Degree not required, though preferred. We are far more interested in someone who has strong transferable skills, good judgment, and a hard worker rather than someone who seems smart on paper. 2. Fluency in English and Spanish. Fluency is a requirement in both, not merely a preference. You will be tested by a fluent Spanish-speaking attorney during your interview. 3. Confidentiality. You cannot discuss the drama of cases with family/others outside of work, as tempting as it may be. Client and identifying case details must be kept confidential. 4. Follows instructions, without difficulty. You must follow attorney instructions carefully. 5. Know how to ask for help as soon as you know you need it. 6. You must be a fast typist/producer. The attorneys need help with writing/secretarial work. This firm handles litigation, which requires voluminous discovery production. You will be expected to draft discovery requests, compile discovery responses from clients, draft basic pleading forms (entries of appearance, motion for criminal discovery, motion/order continuance, proposed orders, etc. no legal research required ). If you struggle with talking on the phone, reading, writing, spelling, and proofreading, this isn't for you. 7. Thick skin and confidence; comfortable enforcing boundaries. Clients often come to us on their worst day and have often endured severe trauma. You will be exposed on a daily basis to triggering and tough issues such as severe injuries, death, violence, high-conflict, and children. We will train you how to handle difficult behavior and when you should seek assistance from a superior. Please evaluate whether you can handle this environment before reaching out. This is not an easy job, but it is interesting, fulfilling, stimulating, and you will not be bored or falling asleep at your desk. 8. Organization skills. You must keep track of physical documents and online document organization with proficiency. 9. Task management and focus. You must be able to assist with the management of hundreds of case files for 4-6 attorneys, while being one of 3 full-time staff. 10. Basic tech literacy is essential, including fluency in all Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, OneDrive); Adobe; and common media players. Candidates must be able to independently troubleshoot when it comes to an office printer/scan/copier, and must be able to use all tech in the office. 11. Easily use Zoom (setting up meetings, sending invites, logging into zoom, including connection to laptops, webcams, etc.). 12. Navigate My Case online case management system. Previous use or knowledge of this program is not required, but you must be comfortable noting, uploading, and organizing client documents. 13. Candidates must be comfortable taking initiative when noticing administrative tasks that need doing, rather than waiting for someone else to handle it. You should have the tendency to bring your managing attorney a solution rather than another problem. -Shelby Anthony, Equity Partner and Family Law Attorney at RSA and the hiring coordinator for this job posting.
