The position includes a mix of administrative and paralegal responsibilities. Prior experience working in a professional office environment, including handling clerical responsibilities and communicating with clients by phone and email, is required. Our ideal candidate is organized, professional, dependable, detail-oriented, and willing to take initiative. Because we are a small firm, we are looking for someone who is already proficient in an office environment, can learn our system quickly, and will pitch in where needed.
What You Will Do:
Manage calendaring, deadlines, appointments, and court deadlines; Prepare, format, and file or serve pleadings, discovery responses, and court documents; Assist with court filing procedures and requirements; Prepare Essential Forms documents, including declarations of disclosure, and subpoenas; Assist with hearing and trial preparation; Handle document editing, redactions, PDF assembly, bookmarking, and document management; Answer phones, communicate professionally with clients, and greet visitors; Create and maintain physical and electronic files; and Provide general administrative and clerical support.
Must Haves:
1+ year of Law Office experience; Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe (PDF assembly, bookmarking, redactions), and Google Workspace; Experience with court filings and procedures; Strong written and verbal communication skills; Ability to follow instructions, retain new procedures, and work independently; Dependability, professionalism, and good judgment; Strong interpersonal and customer service skills; and Ability to work in person every day, 6-7 hours per day, but the schedule is flexible for the right candidate.
Preferred:
Family law experience; Paralegal certificate; and Experience with Essential Forms and other legal software.
