Full Job Description Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Legal Assistant, who is highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our team. As a Legal Assistant, you will provide support to our legal team by managing legal cases, and assisting with various administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ideal candidate must have ability to work independently and collaboratively in a high-performance environment. Minimum of 3- 4 years of experience in the legal field, preferably with a focus on Civil Litigation law.
Responsibilities but not limited to:
- Assist attorneys in managing legal cases from start to finish
- Prepare and draft legal documents, such as discovery and pleadings (heavy litigation)
- Proofread legal documents for accuracy and completeness
- Maintain and organize case files and documents
- Schedule appointments, court dates, and meetings for attorneys
- Answer phone calls and direct inquiries to the appropriate person
- Perform filing, faxing, scanning, copying, and data entry
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of E-Filing in State and Federal Court, knowledge of Appellate court is a plus
- Strong knowledge of State and Federal court dates
- Strong understanding of processes of putting together TOC, TOA, Discovery, MSJ's, FSC/Trial/Exhibit binders
- Must be able to handle heavy litigation desk
- Ability to have daily interactions with attorneys regarding upcoming deadlines.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks quickly and accurately
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time
- Must be able to type a minimum of 40 WPM
- Excellent typing, formatting, and overall computer proficiency required
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Professional phone etiquette with the ability to handle inquiries effectively
- Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
