The Law Offices of Eric Alan Berg & Associates is a well-established law firm with offices in Chico and Redding, serving Northern California clients for over 36 years. We specialize in criminal defense (including DUI) and family law. We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Legal Secretary/Paralegal to support our team of experienced attorneys. Responsibilities:
Provide administrative and legal support to attorneys in criminal defense and family law cases. Draft, format, proofread, and file legal documents, correspondence, pleadings, and court filings. Manage attorney calendars, schedule appointments, court dates, and client meetings. Organize and maintain physical and electronic case files, client records, and databases. Communicate professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and witnesses. Conduct basic legal research and assist with trial preparation (e.g., assembling binders and evidence). Handle e-filing, billing support, time entry, and general office tasks. Ensure compliance with court deadlines and confidentiality standards.
Qualifications:
1-3+ years of experience as a legal secretary, legal assistant, or paralegal (law firm experience preferred, especially in criminal or family law). Strong knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and court filing systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and legal software (e.g., Clio or similar). Excellent organizational, multitasking, and communication skills. High school diploma or equivalent required; paralegal certificate or associate's degree preferred. Must be reliable, discreet, and able to handle sensitive information.
Pay:
$22.00 - $31.00 per hour
