Part-Time Legal Assistant / Paralegal National Entertainment Law Corporation Westlake Village, CA Job Details Part-time $25 - $30 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Free parking Flexible schedule Paid sick time Qualifications Microsoft Word Writing skills Scanning Calendar management Law office experience Full Job Description National Entertainment Law Corporation is seeking a reliable, highly organized Part-Time Legal Assistant / Paralegal for a long-term, in-office position in Westlake Village. Our practice is primarily transactional and focuses on entertainment, production and general business matters. This is not a litigation-heavy position.
Schedule:
Approximately 25 hours per week, Monday through Friday, generally 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Some flexibility with start and end times may be available for the right candidate. From time to time, additional hours may be available or required for client meetings, firm activities or travel.
Compensation:
$25-$30 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. This is a part-time W-2 position. Compensation is reviewed after approximately six months and may increase over time based on performance, reliability, independence and increased responsibilities.
Responsibilities include:
Review, revise and redline contracts and other legal agreements while working directly with the attorney to identify issues, incorporate comments and prepare revised drafts Develop the ability to handle increasingly substantive agreement review independently, subject to attorney supervision and final approval Communicate directly and professionally with clients regarding agreements, revisions, outstanding information, signatures and other matter-related issues Prepare, revise and format contracts, correspondence and other legal documents Use Microsoft Word Track Changes, redlines and document comparison tools proficiently Proofread agreements and correspondence carefully for accuracy, consistency, grammar, formatting and completeness Prepare clean and redline versions, signature copies and final executed agreement packages Prepare, edit, combine, organize and transmit PDFs and other electronic documents Maintain client matters, documents and information in Clio Manage Draft routine client and attorney correspondence Calendar deadlines, track outstanding items and proactively follow up so matters continue moving forward Assist with client intake, engagement agreements, billing-related administrative tasks and general matter management Maintain organized electronic and physical files Meet with clients and prospective clients as appropriate, either together with the attorney or independently Occasionally travel locally for client meetings, document deliveries, business development activities and other firm-related matters There may also be occasional opportunities for out-of-area travel to meet clients, prospective clients or attend firm-related meetings or events Handle routine office administration as needed, including mailing and shipping documents, going to the post office, purchasing or picking up office supplies, scanning, copying, filing and similar tasks Assist with maintaining an organized and efficient office environment Take ownership of assignments from beginning to completion and identify items requiring follow-up without needing constant reminders Because this is a small professional office, the position is intentionally hands-on. The successful candidate should be equally comfortable assisting with substantive contract work and handling routine administrative or office tasks when needed.
Qualifications:
Prior experience working in a law office is strongly preferred Strong Microsoft Word skills, including Track Changes, redlining and document formatting Strong Adobe Acrobat and PDF skills Excellent proofreading and attention to detail Highly organized, dependable and punctual Strong written and verbal communication skills Comfortable communicating directly with clients and other professionals Able to manage multiple matters and follow-ups at the same time Able to work independently after receiving direction Comfortable exercising judgment and recognizing when an issue should be escalated to the attorney Comfortable with technology and learning new systems Experience with Clio Manage is a plus, but not required Entertainment-law experience is helpful but not required The ideal candidate is comfortable reviewing agreements critically, communicating directly with clients, taking increasing responsibility for contract revisions and handling both substantive and routine office responsibilities as needed. We are particularly interested in someone who is intentionally seeking stable, consistent part-time work and would like to remain in the position long term. This is an in-office position in Westlake Village and is not remote or hybrid. Applicants should submit a résumé and short professional writing sample.
