Legal Assistant - Criminal Defense & Title IX/University Misconduct Practice Seeking a part-time Legal Assistant to join my practice, which focuses on criminal defense and Title IX/university misconduct matters.
Position:
24-28 hours per week, with an in-office schedule of approximately 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., four days per week. This position combines traditional legal assistant and administrative responsibilities with some paralegal work.
Responsibilities will include:
Reception, phone, email, and client communication Typing, data entry, copying, scanning, filing, and record keeping Filing documents with the Connecticut Judicial Branch and other agencies Mail and general office administration Basic bookkeeping of fees and costs Preparing and reviewing discovery Assisting with motions and other legal documents Maintaining case files, deadlines, and court dates Conducting basic legal research such as retrieving statutes The ideal candidate will have strong computer skills and be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe PDF, as well as comfortable navigating the Connecticut Judicial Branch website and federal websites. Experience with, or the ability to quickly learn, legal research using VLex Fastcase through the Connecticut Bar Association is a plus. I am looking for someone who is dependable, detail-oriented, comfortable interacting with clients, and interested in learning the practice of law. I would ideally like someone who can commit to 2-2.5 years, and potentially longer.
Compensation & Benefits:
