A Paralegal or Legal Assistant assists attorneys and law offices with a variety of tasks ranging from administrative support to legal research and writing. Maintains and organizes files or file databases. Conducts legal or other background research, assists with preparation for trials or hearings, and drafts documents to be filed. Uses software for electronic discovery of materials such as email for a trial. May specialize in a particular area of the law such as corporate or criminal law, family law or real estate law.

Job Requirements:
Experience:
3+ years of defense litigation experience within a law firm setting.
Document & File Management:
Skills in legal document preparation, proofreading, editing, file organization, and recordkeeping.
Administrative & Practice Support:
Experience managing attorney calendars, scheduling meetings, assisting with billing processes, and maintaining administrative workflow deadlines.
Technical Proficiency:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel), with familiarity or experience using iManage preferred.
Communication:
Written and verbal communication skills for interaction with clients, legal teams, and external contacts.
Organizational Abilities:
Detail orientation, task prioritization, and self-direction in a team environment. Background check.
Job Responsibilities:
Organize and maintain physical and electronic legal files, including opening new matters, running conflict checks, closing files, and updating database records. Prepare, type, proofread, and edit legal documents from dictation, handwritten notes, and attorney direction. Manage attorney calendars, contact lists, file listings, meetings, conference room scheduling, and important litigation-related deadlines. Support the client billing process by entering attorney time, editing bills, tracking billing due dates, and delivering invoices to clients electronically and in paper format. Answer, initiate, and route telephone calls, respond to messages, and maintain professional client communication. Create charts, spreadsheets, and tracking tools to organize case-related information and support litigation workflow.
Work Schedule:
Hours to be discussed with applicant.
Salary:
$65,000 to $75,000 per year.
