Flexible shifts scheduled 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday Position Overview A solo attorney office in Melbourne, Florida, seeking a focused and detail-oriented Legal Assistant or Paralegal to join our team. The practice has a diverse caseload including Real Estate, Evictions & Foreclosures, Civil Litigation, Estate Planning, and Probate.
Assist in drafting, editing, and proofreading legal documents, and correspondence.
E-Filing & Court Systems:
File pleadings and legal documents electronically via the Florida Courts E-Filing Portal; handle physical document filing and records retention.
Practice Management & Billing:
Maintain client files, track billable entries, draft billing summaries, and schedule activities using Clio.
Legal Research:
Conduct basic statutory and case law research using Florida Statutes and online databases.
Calendar Management:
Calculate and record procedural deadlines, schedule court appearances, mediations, and client consultations.
Trial & Hearing Preparation:
Assemble evidence binders, organize exhibits, and assist with pre-trial organization.
Office Administration:
Manage incoming client intake, physical mail, printing, scanning, and general administrative support.
Qualifications & Skills Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of legal assistant experience with demonstrated competency in law office procedures.
Software Proficiency:
Proficiency with Office 365 , Clio practice management software and the Florida Courts E-Filing Portal is required.
State Law Familiarity:
Basic working knowledge of Florida Statutes, civil procedure rules, and court filing standards.
Core Skills:
Strong written and verbal communication, proofreading ability, legal formatting skills, and comfortable managing multiple priorities efficiently.
