The firm has repeatedly been recognized by major legal publications and organizations, including the National Law Journal , Martindale-Hubbell, and Best Lawyers, as one of the top plaintiffs' firms in the country.
Position Overview:
The Wilkes Firm has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Paralegal. The successful candidate will have a strong litigation background and demonstrate significant knowledge of the Florida Rules of Civil Procedure. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, preparing discovery responses and objections, drafting complaints and correspondence, scheduling, preparing deposition summaries, tracking discovery and litigation deadlines, and assisting with all other aspects of preparing complex cases for trial. The Paralegal will report directly to the assigned attorney and will be responsible for supporting that attorney in the day-to-day management and progression of assigned cases. The Paralegal will also collaborate closely with the legal team and other litigation staff within the firm.
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications:
Strong legal research and writing skills, including drafting answers to complaints, discovery requests and responses, good-faith letters, and motions. Ability to manage calendars, track deadlines, and ensure timely completion of case-related tasks. Coordinate and communicate professionally with opposing counsel, court personnel, court reporters, clients, experts, and other parties as necessary. Schedule depositions, hearings, meetings, and other case-related matters and coordinate travel arrangements for supporting attorneys when necessary. Maintain and organize case files and assist the assigned attorney with all phases of litigation and trial preparation. Two to five years of relevant paralegal or litigation experience required. Bachelor's degree or Paralegal Certification preferred. Working knowledge of the Florida Rules of Civil Procedure and Florida's e-filing system. Experience with case management software and the ability to learn new software and systems. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Strong organizational, analytical, and time-management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
