Position Summary Jennis Morse is seeking an experienced Senior Bankruptcy Paralegal with a minimum of five (5) years of substantive bankruptcy experience, including significant hands-on experience with Chapter 11 reorganizations and proficiency in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 matters. The position requires a highly organized, detail-oriented professional capable of independently managing complex bankruptcy case administration, anticipating attorney and client needs, and effectively managing competing deadlines. The successful candidate will work closely with attorneys on sophisticated bankruptcy, insolvency, creditors' rights, and related litigation matters and will play an integral role in the Firm's bankruptcy practice. Key Responsibilities Independently manage the day-to-day administration of assigned Chapter 7, 11, and 13 matters from commencement through resolution, confirmation, discharge, or closing, as applicable. Prepare, review, and electronically file petitions, schedules, statements of financial affairs, plans, disclosure statements, monthly operating reports, first-day motions, pleadings, notices, proposed orders, and related filings. Support complex Chapter 11 reorganizations, including plan and disclosure statement matters, claims analysis and reconciliation, executory contracts and unexpired leases, creditor issues, and other restructuring matters. Prepare and manage proofs of claim, claim objections, motions for relief from stay, motions concerning executory contracts and leases, applications, notices, and other bankruptcy-related filings. Support adversary proceedings, contested matters, bankruptcy litigation, discovery, hearings, depositions, and trial preparation. Monitor bankruptcy and federal court dockets and proactively identify and communicate significant developments, orders, deadlines, and required action. Maintain comprehensive calendars for filing deadlines, hearings, response deadlines, statutory bar dates, plan deadlines, and other critical dates, supporting timely compliance with applicable bankruptcy and federal court rules. Conduct factual and procedural research and assist attorneys with matters involving claims, liens, priorities, executory contracts, creditor rights, and other bankruptcy issues. Coordinate professionally with clients, trustees, the U.S. Trustee, creditors, creditors' counsel, opposing counsel, court personnel, and other case professionals. Obtain, organize, and maintain financial, corporate, transactional, and litigation-related documentation and case files. Utilize CM/ECF and PACER and maintain familiarity with the procedures and filing requirements of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Florida and applicable federal courts. Identify potential issues, missing information, and procedural requirements before they become problems and promptly escalate substantive matters to the responsible attorney. Work collaboratively with attorneys and support staff while taking ownership of assigned matters; provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff as appropriate. Qualifications Minimum of five (5) years of substantive bankruptcy paralegal experience, preferably in a law firm environment. Significant hands-on experience with Chapter 11 reorganizations; meaningful experience handling Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 matters. Strong working knowledge of the Bankruptcy Code, Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure, Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, and applicable local bankruptcy and federal court rules and procedures. Demonstrated experience with CM/ECF and PACER and electronic filing in federal and bankruptcy courts. Experience with bankruptcy docket monitoring, claims, motions, notices, hearings, deadlines, and case administration. Experience with adversary proceedings, contested matters, creditors' rights, and/or bankruptcy-related litigation is highly desirable. Familiarity with bankruptcy case-management and petition-preparation software, such as Best Case, is preferred. Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple matters and competing deadlines without sacrificing accuracy.
