Junior Paralegal Andersen, Tate & Carr, P.C. | Duluth, GA About the Firm Andersen, Tate & Carr, P.C. (ATC) is a full-service law firm based in Duluth, Georgia with approximately 30 attorneys. Position Overview ATC is seeking a Legal Assistant to support attorneys and paralegals with the day-to-day management of medical malpractice cases. This role is well suited to a highly organized, detail-oriented candidate who is comfortable handling sensitive medical and personal information and is eager to grow into more advanced paralegal responsibilities over time. Key Responsibilities
  • Open, organize, and maintain electronic and paper case files
  • Download, save, label, and index medical records and other case documents, including obtaining printed PDFs when records are produced as scans
  • Download file-stamped documents from the court portal, and Bates label and redact materials for production and trial
  • Assist with preparing and organizing deposition materials, discovery responses, exhibits, and trial notebooks
  • Draft routine correspondence, authorizations, notices, and other basic legal documents using established templates
  • Prepare case chronologies, witness lists, medical-provider lists, and task lists
  • Track and request reimbursement of case expenses and manage CLE reporting for assigned attorneys
  • Scan, copy, mail, and electronically transmit case materials as needed
  • Provide general administrative support to attorneys and senior paralegals Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and follow through on outstanding tasks
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional and compassionate manner when communicating with clients
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive medical and personal information
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and electronic document-management systems
  • Willingness to learn new software, office procedures, and the medical malpractice litigation process Preferred Qualities
  • Patient and persistent when following up on records and outstanding requests
  • Comfortable working independently while also functioning as part of a team
  • Able to prioritize urgent assignments and meet deadlines
  • Respectful and empathetic toward clients who have experienced serious injuries or the loss of a family member
  • Interested in growing into more advanced paralegal responsibilities Opportunities for Growth As the Legal Assistant gains experience, the role may expand to include:
  • Drafting discovery requests and responses, and assisting with filing pleadings and other documents with the court
  • Preparing deposition notices and subpoenas
  • Tracking documents on evidence charts and similar case-management tools
  • Summarizing medical records and deposition transcripts
  • Creating medical chronologies and damages summaries
  • Assisting with expert-witness materials and mediation, hearing, and trial exhibits
  • Communicating with clients to gather additional documents or information as needed
  • Taking on greater responsibility for managing assigned cases under attorney supervision Work Environment This position involves working with confidential legal and medical information, strict deadlines, and clients facing difficult or emotional circumstances.
