We are looking for a reliable, bilingual (English/Spanish) Legal Assistant to join our team and assist our paralegals in managing administrative tasks and supporting our clients through their immigration journey.
Job Summary :
As an Immigration Office Legal Assistant at Cochran Immigration, you will play a key role in supporting our legal team with various administrative and client-facing tasks. Your responsibilities will include assisting paralegals with case management, client interviews, call handling, and assisting with the completion of small applications.
Key Responsibilities :
Client Interviews :
Conduct initial interviews with clients to gather necessary information and documentation for their cases.
Case Management Support :
Assist paralegals with administrative tasks related to immigration case management, including filing documents, tracking case statuses, and organizing files.
Phone and Email Communication :
Return client calls, answer inquiries, and assist with email correspondence.
Immigration Applications :
Assist with preparing and filing basic applications and forms under the guidance of a paralegal or immigration attorney.
Document Preparation :
Help prepare and review documents for accuracy and completeness.
Client Interaction :
Serve as a point of contact for clients, providing updates and answering questions regarding their cases.
Qualifications :
Bilingual :
Fluent in both English and Spanish (written and spoken) is required.
Experience :
Previous experience in a legal or administrative role, preferably in immigration law.
Organizational Skills :
Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and maintain a high level of attention to detail.
Communication Skills :
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, staff, and external parties.
Technical Skills :
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), and experience with case management software is a plus.
Client-Focused :
Demonstrates empathy and professionalism while interacting with clients, especially in sensitive immigration matters.
Education :
High school diploma or equivalent required
Preferred Skills :
Familiarity with immigration law and procedures. Experience with USCIS applications or legal document preparation is a plus.
