Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support a busy municipal legal environment. This contract position with potential for a permanent role is ideal for someone who combines administrative strength with legal support experience and can manage time-sensitive requests with professionalism. The role works fully onsite and offers the opportunity to contribute to public records, contract coordination, research, and meeting support in a government setting.
Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the collection and organization of contract documents from multiple departments to support legal review and recordkeeping.
  • Prepare accurate meeting notes and formal summaries for internal discussions and official proceedings.
  • Manage a high volume of open records requests each day, ensuring timely responses and proper documentation.
  • Review documents for confidential content and complete redactions in accordance with applicable policies and legal standards.
  • Maintain databases and filing systems to keep legal and administrative records current, searchable, and well organized.
  • Draft proclamations, correspondence, and other support documents for municipal and legal operations.
  • Attend council meetings twice per month and provide administrative and documentation support, including flexibility with adjusted hours on meeting days.
  • Conduct research using case materials and related sources to assist with legal and policy-related questions.
