What they do
A Paralegal or Legal Assistant assists attorneys and law offices with a variety of tasks ranging from administrative support to legal research and writing. Maintains and organizes files or file databases. Conducts legal or other background research, assists with preparation for trials or hearings, and drafts documents to be filed. Uses software for electronic discovery of materials such as email for a trial. May specialize in a particular area of the law such as corporate or criminal law, family law or real estate law.

Job Description
A typical day will include:
Meeting with clients in person to explain their case status, next steps, and immigration options Preparing and organizing immigration case packages including U-Visas, AOS, VAWA, K-1 Visas, Green Card Renewals, DACA/AP, N-400, I-130, I-765, and more Completing and reviewing immigration forms with accuracy and attention to detail Communicating with clients in both English and Spanish to request documents, provide updates, and follow up on pending items Collaborating with our internal team to keep cases moving forward Maintaining accurate case notes and updating case management systems Supporting the office by assisting with client walk-ins and inquiries when needed What You Bring to the Role Previous experience in U.S. immigration law as a Legal Assistant, Paralegal, or Case Manager (required) Familiarity with immigration case types such as U-Visa, AOS, VAWA, K-1, Green Card Renewals, DACA, N-400, I-130, I-765, and similar Bilingual in English and Spanish (professional-level fluency in both) Strong client-facing skills- comfortable meeting with clients in person and explaining complex processes with empathy Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work autonomously Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality Computer literacy and comfort using case management systems Authorization to work in the United States A proactive, service-oriented mindset•those with a natural ability to connect with clients and identify their needs tend to thrive here What You Can Expect Competitive pay: $18•25/hour, based on experience Paid time off Performance-based bonuses Monday to Friday schedule•no weekends, no holidays Knowledgeable, encouraging, and present leadership Working alongside a supportive team of 40+ professionals Weekly training and development opportunities Positive work environment based on achievable goals Stability and long-term career growth opportunities About The George McCranie Law Firm We are an immigration, criminal, and personal injury law firm.
