Job Description

Description We are looking for a Commercial RE Paralegal to support a busy legal team handling sophisticated real estate matters in Chicago, Illinois. This Contract position calls for someone who can manage documentation, coordinate closing activities, and keep transactions moving efficiently from due diligence through post-closing. The ideal candidate brings practical knowledge of the commercial real estate process, strong organizational skills, and confidence working directly with clients and outside parties.
Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and update due diligence tracking materials to support commercial real estate transactions from initial review through closing.
  • Examine title commitments and survey documents, summarize key findings, and draft correspondence addressing objections or required follow-up items.
  • Create, review, and refine transaction-related documentation such as leases, loan papers, deeds, transfer instruments, and related real estate agreements.
  • Draft and revise entity and organizational records needed in connection with transactions and ongoing legal matters.
  • Coordinate execution logistics by circulating signature pages, collecting finalized documents, and confirming completion for closings.
  • Communicate with clients, lenders, counterparties, and other stakeholders to organize diligence items, funding steps, and closing timelines.
  • Submit documents for recording through electronic or traditional filing methods, depending on jurisdictional requirements.
  • Oversee the assembly and delivery of closing binders and other post-closing materials to ensure accurate and timely completion.
  • Assist with preparing hearing materials and supporting packets for zoning-related matters as needed.
  • Provide additional transactional and paralegal support based on team priorities and business needs.
The pay range for this position is 25 to 30 based on experience. Benefits available to contract/contract professionals, include medical, vision, dental, and life and disability insurance.   • Demonstrated experience supporting commercial real estate transactions as a paralegal.
  • Working knowledge of title and survey review, including the ability to identify issues and prepare summary notes or objections.
  • Experience drafting and revising legal documents related to leases, financing, conveyance, and organizational matters.
  • Strong understanding of the full real estate transaction lifecycle, including due diligence, closing coordination, funding, and post-closing follow-up.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines, maintain organized records, and handle detailed document workflows with accuracy.
  • Detail-oriented communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with clients, attorneys, and external business partners.
  • Proficiency with legal document management and case-related systems used to organize matters and track deliverables.
