Commercial Litigation Attorney - 5+ Years Experience Established and respected DuPage County law firm seeks an experienced commercial litigator with 5+ years of experience to join our growing practice.
We are a five-attorney firm with thriving commercial transactional, estate planning/business succession, and litigation practices. Our litigation work has grown to the point that we regularly turn away good matters because we simply cannot absorb the additional work. We are looking for an experienced litigator who can step in, take meaningful responsibility for cases, and help us continue to grow the practice. The successful candidate will work closely with two partners with substantial litigation experience-one with more than 25 years of experience and another with more than 11 years-while having the opportunity to manage complex matters from inception through trial. For the right attorney, there is a genuine path to partnership within the next few years and an opportunity to play a significant role in building and managing the firm's litigation practice. Portable business is not required. We are a close-knit group of attorneys who genuinely like and support one another. Our office and personalities are casual and low-ego, but we are Type A about our work product, preparation, responsiveness, and client service. We work hard, collaborate constantly, and take pride in producing excellent work without unnecessary law-firm formality or politics. ResponsibilitiesManage commercial and complex civil litigation matters from inception through resolutionDevelop case strategy and communicate directly with clientsDraft pleadings, dispositive motions, briefs, and written discoveryTake and defend fact and expert depositions, including evidence depositions for trialArgue contested motions, TROs, and other court proceedingsPrepare for and conduct evidentiary hearings, arbitrations, and trialsNegotiate settlements and participate in mediationsWork collaboratively with other attorneys on complex matters QualificationsJuris Doctor degree and Illinois law license5+ years of commercial or complex civil litigation experienceStrong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skillsSignificant deposition and courtroom experienceTrial or trial preparation experience strongly preferredAbility to independently manage cases, deadlines, and client relationshipsOrganized, detail-oriented, responsive, and committed to excellent work productProficiency with Microsoft Office and Westlaw This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced litigator who wants sophisticated work and significant responsibility without getting lost in a large firm. The right candidate will have experienced litigators to collaborate with, the opportunity to develop and manage a substantial caseload, and a realistic path to partnership and a leadership role in the firm's litigation practice to build both their professional and personal life into what they want them to be.
