Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Manage pre-litigation personal injury files involving motor vehicle accidents, premises liability claims, slip and fall matters, and dog bite cases from assignment through resolution.
- Communicate with clients regularly to answer questions, provide status updates, and help coordinate timely access to medical care and treatment resources.
- Track client treatment progress, review file developments, and maintain organized case documentation to support next steps in each matter.
- Research and verify applicable insurance coverage, identify available benefits, and document findings needed for case evaluation.
- Obtain and organize medical records, billing statements, and other supporting materials required to assess damages and prepare claims.
- Draft and issue demand packages that clearly present liability, injuries, treatment history, and damages for settlement consideration.
- Evaluate settlement responses, assist with handling denials or counteroffers, and support negotiations through case resolution.
- Coordinate settlement closing activities, including lien follow-up, disbursement preparation, and communication with clients and outside providers.
- Oversee file progress across intake and case support functions while helping maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and treatment partners.
- Use case management and legal technology platforms effectively to keep records current, monitor deadlines, and support efficient file handling.
- Previous experience handling pre-litigation personal injury matters from client intake through settlement.
- Working knowledge of Illinois personal injury law and procedural expectations, or the ability to quickly apply Illinois-specific practices.
- Strong background in client communication, case coordination, and insurance-related investigation.
- Experience preparing demand packages, reviewing settlement activity, and assisting with lien resolution.
- Proficiency with case management software and comfort working in a technology-focused legal setting.
- Familiarity with civil litigation processes, discovery, and trial preparation concepts.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate file documentation.
