Job Description

Legal Assistant We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Legal Assistant to provide administrative and legal support to an attorney in a fast-paced office environment. This role is ideal for a professional with strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to providing exceptional client service.
Compensation & Schedule:
Pay:
$18.00-$25.00 per hour, depending on experience
Hours:
Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-5:00
PM Schedule:
8:30 AM-5:00 PM with a one-hour unpaid lunch
Responsibilities:
Provide legal and administrative support to the attorney. Answer and screen telephone calls and greet visitors professionally. Respond to inquiries regarding case status, court procedures, and office matters. Schedule meetings, hearings, conferences, and court appearances. Prepare, proofread, and edit legal documents, correspondence, reports, and other materials. Maintain court calendars, docket cases, and prepare and distribute notices of hearings. Electronically file legal documents with courts and administrative agencies. Compose routine correspondence and memoranda. Enter and maintain client information and case records in the firm's database. Track and record billable time accurately. Assist with file management, including archived and closed files. Maintain office supplies and assist with general office operations. Pick up and deliver mail and other materials as needed. Collaborate with other office staff and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency.
Qualifications:
Previous administrative support experience in a legal or related professional office preferred. Knowledge of general office procedures, equipment, and software. Familiarity with court rules, legal procedures, and electronic filing is preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent proofreading, grammar, spelling, and attention to detail. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Ability to maintain professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality. Strong organizational and time management skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with legal billing software is a plus, but not required.
