Back Senior Paralegal (Intellectual Property & Contracts) @ McIlhenny Company What this job is all about: The Senior Paralegal (Intellectual Property & Contracts) will report to and assist the Corporate Counsel or Senior Manager-Legal Services and work closely with attorneys, other Legal Department staff and other business units to assist in handling an array of domestic and international legal matters including, but not limited to, intellectual property registration maintenance, licensing the Company's intellectual property, and handling various forms of legal documents. Responsible for day-to-day functions within the Legal Department to ensure efficiency and accuracy. To be successful in this role, one must have strong attention to detail including proofreading and editing abilities, be highly organized, and thrive in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities. In this job, you'll do things like: Accurately modify and maintain Legal Department Database daily for use in creating and processing reports in connection with various contracts to ensure critical deadlines are met, and pending matters are continuously monitored and carried through to completion. Research and prepare summaries of findings related to prospective licensees. Collaborate with in-house attorneys and external counsel in relation to application process and license recordal for new and existing intellectual property protection. Review Legal Department Database and advise appropriate business units on upcoming contract obligations and/or deadlines. Review Legal Department Database and identify trademark registration renewal deadlines and collaborate with in-house staff and external counsel to ensure deadlines are met. Prepare initial drafts of various forms of letters and agreements for in-house attorneys' review, using standard templates. Analyze, proof, and edit various types of legal documents as needed. Assist in-house attorneys to provide legal related support to Company's licensing program, including consideration of potential licensees, drafting license agreements, and reviewing promotional materials. Assist with review of product labeling, packaging, promotional materials and product sampling, ensuring compliance with internal guidelines. Coordinate with in-house and external counsel, and business teams regarding various types of legal documents. Perform day-to-day administrative/clerical functions. Crosstrain for ability to "fill in" roles in the Legal Department outside of primary job responsibilities. Responsibilities may require extended hours from time to time and occasional travel. Qualifications:
Must-haves to apply for this job: High School Diploma 10 years' experience with legal documents (i.e., paralegal, contract manager, legal secretary, other applicable profession). High level of maturity and confidence, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, must be detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills. Proficient accounting skills, letter writing skills, and computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and extensive internet research skills.
