Mon-Friday; 8a-5p Position Overview

Seeking a versatile Legal Assistant for the Baton Rouge area to handle legal preparation, case research, and general administrative law office operations.

Responsibilities:
Legal Support & Drafting:

Prepare affidavits, legal correspondence, briefs, wills, contracts, real estate closing statements, pleadings, appeals, and trial exhibits. File pleadings directly with the court clerk.

Research & Fact-Finding:

Investigate facts and laws, search public records, gather statutes, codes, and legal articles, and analyze data to help determine causes of action.

Administrative Operations:

Direct and coordinate general office activities, manage electronic and paper filing systems, deliver subpoenas, and keep the law library updated.

Client & Witness Coordination:

Meet with clients, attorneys, and professionals to discuss case details, and call on witnesses to testify at hearings.

General Clerical Duties:

Manage daily legal calendars, schedule appointments, handle incoming calls/emails, monitor office supplies, and route incoming correspondence. ...

Prior paralegal or legal secretary experience preferred

Education:
Associate Experience:

1-4 years

Qualifications:
  • Requires a certificate, associate degree, or bachelor?s degree in paralegal studies, legal secretary studies, or a related field.
  • 3-4 yrs. Experience preferred, but also willing to review recent graduates with high drive to excel in the legal field.
  • Must be a self-starter.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, time management, and organizational skills.
