A Paralegal or Legal Assistant assists attorneys and law offices with a variety of tasks ranging from administrative support to legal research and writing. Maintains and organizes files or file databases. Conducts legal or other background research, assists with preparation for trials or hearings, and drafts documents to be filed. Uses software for electronic discovery of materials such as email for a trial. May specialize in a particular area of the law such as corporate or criminal law, family law or real estate law.

Job Description
ResponsibilitiesTranscribe dictation and prepare, type, proofread, and redline legal documentsMaintain and manage attorney calendars, including scheduling meetings, deadlines, and appointmentsPrepare and file documents with various state and federal courtsOrganize and maintain electronic and paper case filesOpen and maintain new client and matter filesEnter attorney time and assist with timekeeping requirementsReview and edit client bills for accuracyProcess check requests and expense reportsAssist attorneys with day-to-day administrative and litigation support needsCommunicate professionally with clients, attorneys, courts, and other legal professionalsUtilize electronic document management systems to organize and retrieve case materialsPerform additional administrative and legal support duties as neededQualificationsPrevious experience as a legal assistant, preferably supporting a litigation practiceExperience in commercial litigation or a similar complex litigation environment strongly preferredKnowledge of filing requirements and procedures for various courtsProficiency with legal terminology and standard legal proceduresStrong transcription, typing, proofreading, and redlining skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to prioritize multiple deadlines and work effectively in a fast-paced environmentStrong technology skills, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and OutlookComfortable working with electronic document management systemsdetail oriented, dependable, and able to work effectively as part of a legal teamCompensation & Work Environment$50,000-$60,000 annual salaryFully on-site Monday-FridayOpportunity to join an established legal team and support a sophisticated commercial litigation practicedetail oriented and collaborative work environment
