Job Description

Description We are looking for an experienced Legal Assistant to support a nationally recognized law firm in Michigan. This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for a highly organized candidate who can confidently manage a busy practice, provide high-level support to multiple attorneys, and work effectively with minimal supervision in a remote environment. The position will focus on litigation support as well as trust and estate matters, requiring strong organizational skills and the ability to keep competing priorities on track.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide day-to-day administrative and legal support to three attorneys, including one focused on litigation and two handling trust and estate matters.
  • Prepare, format, revise, and organize legal correspondence, pleadings, filings, and other case-related documents with a high level of accuracy.
  • Coordinate court filings in both state and federal courts, ensuring documents are submitted correctly and within required deadlines.
  • Maintain attorney calendars by scheduling hearings, meetings, deadlines, and other critical dates while proactively monitoring changes and conflicts.
  • Track case activity, manage legal files, and keep records organized to support efficient workflow across multiple matters.
  • Communicate professionally with courts, clients, and internal team members regarding scheduling, documentation, and case updates.
  • Assist with litigation processes by gathering materials, preparing exhibits, and supporting attorneys with matter-related logistics.
  • Work independently in a remote setting while managing priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment. Requirements
  • Prior experience as a Legal Assistant within a litigation-focused law firm environment.
  • Strong background supporting litigation matters and preparing a wide range of legal documents.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with electronic filing procedures in both state and federal courts.
  • Excellent calendar management skills with the ability to oversee multiple deadlines and attorney schedules.
  • Experience supporting trust and estate legal work is highly preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, stay organized, and manage competing priorities in a remote role.
  • Strong written communication, attention to detail, and overall administrative accuracy.
  • Comfortable supporting multiple attorneys in a high-volume setting.
