We are seeking an experienced Paralegal with 8 or more years of paralegal or legal assistant experience at a law firm to support our attorneys in creditors' rights and collections litigation, from filing through judgment and post-judgment remedies. Legal Assistant or Paralegal? We are hiring for both roles. Placement is based on years of paralegal or legal assistant experience at a law firm. Candidates with fewer than 8 years of law firm experience are considered for our Legal Assistant position. Position Summary The Paralegal manages litigation matters under attorney supervision in a high-volume creditors' rights practice, preparing pleadings and judgment documents, managing dockets and deadlines, and handling post-judgment remedies. Key Responsibilities Draft complaints, motions, affidavits, discovery, and default and judgment documents for attorney review. E-file documents and manage court dockets, calendars, and deadlines. Prepare and process post-judgment remedies, including garnishments, executions, liens, and satisfactions. Maintain accurate case records in case management and collection management systems. Communicate with courts, clients, opposing parties, and vendors within the scope of paralegal duties. Provide research support and prepare case summaries for attorneys. Review documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with court rules and Firm standards. Qualifications Required 8 or more years of paralegal or legal assistant experience at a law firm. Civil litigation experience, including court filings and deadline management. High school diploma or equivalent. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong attention to detail. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Preferred Creditors' rights or collections litigation experience. Experience with judgments and post-judgment remedies. Paralegal certificate, or an associate's or bachelor's degree in paralegal or legal studies. Knowledge of Michigan court rules and court e-filing. Familiarity with collection management platforms such as Cogent and legal case management systems. Skills and Abilities Exceptional accuracy with high-volume legal documents. Ability to manage a large caseload and competing deadlines. Sound judgment about when to escalate to an attorney. Professional, courteous communication with colleagues, clients, and courts. Compensation $22.00 to $25.00 per hour, based on experience. This is a full-time, hourly (non-exempt), overtime-eligible position, onsite at our Farmington Hills, Michigan office.
