Job Description

Job Overview 5 years of experience as legal assistant/paralegal preferred but not mandated. Demonstrated capability in the following legal disciplines: civil and domestic litigation, probate, and estate planning. (Domestic is not the principal focus of this litigation practice but may be required from time to time.) Demonstrated capability in implementing appropriate discovery for civil and domestic litigation practice. (Domestic is not the principal focus of this litigation practice but may be required from time to time.) Adept at using Microsoft Word, Excel, Pacer, Federal and State Court filing software, and Legal Research Software, Good written and verbal and client communication skills, including taking messages, follow-up, maintaining contact with potential and current clients (including letters, emails, and telephone contact), and scheduling. Good court communication skills, including maintaining productive and cooperative communication with court clerks, court secretaries, judicial assistants, etc. File maintenance•account creation, fee agreements, and continuous file preparation for an active litigation practice. File management•need to have continuous documented file management on Excel Spreadsheets, with weekly meetings to review status. Maintain and enter time records daily in Clio. Not responsible to enter attorney time, but must enter his or her own time in Clio each day. Expectation to bill 4.5 hours per day minimum. All time is recorded. Determination about hourly rate and billing for recorded work is made by the attorney. Works well with others and a contributing member of a team approach in the office. Self-starter and self-motivated with respect to active litigation practice•not dependent on attorney for instruction. Types at effective rate of speed•no minimum wpm required but must maintain adequate skills for active litigation practice.

$21.00•$32.00 per hour
