Legal Assistant at Adams & Martin Group Legal Assistant at Adams & Martin Group in St. Louis, Missouri Posted in about 7 hours ago. $50,000.00 per year Legal Assistant (Insurance Defense) Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support attorneys in a fast-paced insurance defense practice. The ideal candidate will have experience managing litigation files, coordinating discovery, maintaining case deadlines, and assisting attorneys throughout the litigation process. This role requires excellent organizational skills, the ability to manage a high-volume caseload, and strong communication skills when interacting with clients, insurance carriers, opposing counsel, courts, and expert witnesses. Key Responsibilities Provide administrative and litigation support to insurance defense attorneys throughout all phases of litigation. Draft, revise, proofread, and file legal documents including pleadings, motions, subpoenas, notices, correspondence, and discovery materials. Prepare and coordinate responses to interrogatories, requests for production, and other discovery requests. Maintain and organize electronic and physical case files. Manage attorney calendars, track court deadlines, schedule depositions, mediations, hearings, and client meetings. Assist with document collection, review, and production. Coordinate with clients, insurance adjusters, expert witnesses, medical providers, and opposing counsel. Prepare exhibits, trial notebooks, deposition summaries, and other litigation support materials. Monitor case status and ensure compliance with court rules and filing requirements. Perform e-filing in state and federal courts. Review, organize, and summarize medical records, billing records, accident reports, and other case-related documentation. Support trial preparation and assist attorneys with hearing and mediation logistics. Qualifications 1+ years of legal assistant experience, preferably within insurance defense, civil litigation, or commercial litigation. Strong understanding of litigation procedures and court filing requirements. Experience supporting attorneys in a high-volume legal environment. Familiarity with state and federal court systems and e-filing platforms. Experience managing calendars, deadlines, and complex case files. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and Teams. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize competing deadlines. Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion. Preferred Qualifications Prior insurance defense experience involving personal injury, premises liability, transportation, construction defect, workers' compensation, or professional liability matters. Experience reviewing medical records and billing documentation. Knowledge of litigation management and document management software. Paralegal certificate or legal studies coursework preferred.
